Damaru

The damaru is an essential and important instrument in Tibetan Buddhist rituals. Playing the damaru is said to bring forth the sound of emptiness (shunyata), and its two sides symbolize the union of relative and ultimate bodhichitta, compassion and emptiness. The damaru and bell are always used together, playing the damaru with the right hand and the bell with the left.
